After Events August 21st - 23rd

First of all I want to say thank you to all of the NPCs, runners, kitchen staff, and staff in general. The game rocked and it was great to see such awesome support of the chapter.

This was by far one of my favorite Alliance events in a very long time. When I got there Friday night which was late it was great to see that everybody in town it seemed already had direction. The PCs were all helping each other with information and everybody was working towards a common goal. That I really enjoyed. I also enjoyed hearing that mods were split up into smaller parties so that each group had something to do and a way to affect the overall plotline for the weekend.

I absolutely loved the idea of the broken up maps that needed to be put together, along with the ciphers to determine how to push forward with the taking down of the tower. That was a really cool mechanic in my opinion. The plot involved spirits, and puzzles, and fighting which engaged many PCs that I often do not see engaged and I thought that was a great thing.

I personally loved the end mod. I thought the capture the flag type thing was amazing, and it was pressure without the overwhelming sense of having the monsters just outstat us all. There was a timeline and a goal which everybody could understand and that made it fun to me. Knowing the path we would have to take allowed me to go play rogue in the woods like I really love to do and anticipate the next moves on the enemies.

My absolute favorite part of the weekend was getting attacked in our sleep. Also the fights that happened at our cabin while we all just got to sit and hang out with each other was amazing. It was a fun "mod" for us 4 and tapped us out more than many other mods we go on and every one of us loved it. That combat was perfect for us, not too fast for that early in the morning but still scary as hell.

I loved getting targeted with my worst fears too. Amazing job of that plot!

The only part that I think I missed because of getting there late was a reminder of why we had to take down the towers. I know it has been told to us PCs before but with a long summer break many of us forget things. That could just be information that never got shared by PCs to other PCs.

Overall if I had to give the event a grade it would be an A+. I loved everything about it and commend you all for running a great game.

The only thing I would change for my own PC would be more lighting in the tavern at night. I love the ambiance of low lighting and the more feel of times before electricity but since we play 1/3 of our game during night time, I would love one place where I can actually see treasure and play games in actual light. If the cabins had more tables and things I would just hang out there instead but since they don't the tavern is our only option for that sort of thing. However that does not affect me enough to dislike any part of the game because of it. Just my own thoughts on an oog aspect :).

Thanks again all. I am still geeking about the event. :).

This past weekend reminded me of any number of great things about this game. From watching the town work together to locate the map pieces to individual players making huge revelations that change the course of a weekend, I had a fantastic time.
Lots of credit goes to our plot team who have done a great job of giving us interesting weekend encounters without losing the sweeping story of the world they've given us to live within. Credit also goes out to the players who embrace the RP of facing fears, having flaws, and making mistakes.
Hearing Genevieve realize she was the last person in a pitch black room and the look in Tyler's eyes as he realized that he'd just Flame Blasted Mathis were RP highlights of the weekend for me.
Chad's efforts with the Wall of Force mod, where Casey saved us all from ourselves, was fantastic.
Thank you to everyone for a great weekend that re-energized me for Alliance and made me sad that I'll have to miss the season closer.

Hopefully I'll have a chance to see people in Traverse City before the end of the year.

I loved this event! I agree with Matt and Chris that seeing the town work together to get through the puzzle stuff was awesome, and one of my favorite parts was being able to help decipher the notes in what people started calling Goblinese. Other highlights include:

-The Bandersnatch- Taios was freaking out that entire mod, and being able to play him struggling to keep it together while trying to help everyone get through it was great. Finding the weak spot for the bandersnatch was great too. Chirp chirp chirp!

-The Challenges- having the town go do all sorts of different things to work out issues was a great way to include everyone and let them feel like they had something to contribute. Also, getting attacked at the cabins was pretty great-I'd love to see that more often!

-The Fears- I'm still shuddering about the Brood showing up, and I didn't even fight them! I really liked how the mods catered to character fears within the town.

-The Orb Mod- that final fight was fantastic! I really liked how it was a different scenario than we were used to, and that there were people who were given some temporary fun things to help out in the final fight, as well as some roleplay stuff I ended up doing right at the end.

A great event, thank you to Chad, Travis, Chris, Wes, Zach, and GJ for running, as well as the rest of NPC camp for helping make this a great event. Can't wait to see everyone at the next event!

-Baylan aka Taios the Goblin

I would say that was my best event of the year so far:

-Nailed the theme with the Tower of Fear without having to toss out fear or terror effects. Well done!
-Friday night Mod (Path of the Door): Favorite mod of the weekend. Mod that wasn't won by beating everything to death and required a plan to succeed. Tios playing bait to lure the Bandersnatch away, trying to toss the light across the bridge, and chirp chirp chirp in pitch black darkness.
-Late Late Blue-Thirty Treasure Map Hunting with Jynx, Lukas, Trillis, Tios, and myself.
-Being invited to witness the spirit farewell, or whatever happened that was suppose to be a spirit farewell.
-Telling Trillis not to be afraid of the aspect of fear, only to have it whisper a fear into my own ears.
-Plans to build a house over the circle (with Mary).
-Puzzle Mods on the Path of the Key. All of them. But the lighted barrier one the best.

Thanks to all Pcs and Npcs alike.

-I really enjoyed this event. It was markedly better than the last few events I have been too.
-Reps and props even the simple ones like the map were fantastic this weekend.
-I loved the fear theme with as pointed out there was not one Fear/Terror all weekend
-The amount of creative puzzle mods were super- loved the rope light/pressure plate stuff. Especially how it resolved with Casey being like hey guys just do this....
-Loved the capture the flag style mod as its great change of pace for a town mod.
-Loved not being safe on the trails or in the cabins
-Loved Marheim Radi and Permed Maxwell- I was so close to dropping my 3/ever terminates into Joeseph...feel like that would have went bad lol

-Lastly Black Pepper and MIO challenges

Hello everyone.
I'm sorry this is rather late but here is my feedback from the last event.

First of all a huge thank you to plot and all of the npcs. It was absolutely clear that there was so much preplanning and teamwork needed to make this event happen, and I am so glad that I chose to have my little sister come down and npc for such an amazing plot team. So thank you so much.

I think this was quite possibly my favorite event yet in my larp adventures.
This was the first larp I chose to have Jynx much more involved as an individual and I am so glad that I did.
There are so many ways that the tone of this weekend could be based on scary monsters simply throwing fear about, but the attention that was paid to different Pcs and their particular fears was something really fantastic to watch happen and be a part of. Even if Jynx did not have any particular fears that were targeted, she was often part of other people's fears coming true without realizing it until it had happened. It was really well done.

Some highlights:
Going through Mathis's fears and having nothing he does have an affect on his friends, and at the end being alone in a dark room surrounded by npcs.

Mathis resurrecting Jynx with a beautiful story and having my guild mates chanting my name as I awoke.

Late night treasure hunting with Rayne, Trellis, Tios, and Lucas with awful sources of light, and still doing pretty well

Witnessing Mary save everyone with her transform during the last mod

Sprinting after the globe as it was pulled away thinking, "what do I do, what do I do, who cares just get it back"

Always somehow becoming Trellis's battle buddy. It was nice to play with different PCs this event.

Some other points:
I agree that I wish the tavern was a little better lit in the evening. It's hard to go over notes and treasure in the lighting that we currently have. It also makes me sleepy because I'm sometimes a little child and when four o clock hits its already difficult to stay awake.

I wish there was a better sign in and sign out sheet so that everyone could know who is still at camp, especially on Sunday mornings. It was my fault for not communicating to the correct people that I was sleeping with my sister in an outlying cabin, and for sleeping through clean up on accident. But I would have really liked to help with the clean up and had more time to say goodbye to everyone in Sunday. Again, that's my fault but in other circumstances it could be really bad if we have new players that that had happened to at an event. A sign out system at npc camp could help keep track of people.

Leah had a fantastic time as an npc for your plot team. Her feedback was very positive and she was so grateful that the plot team included her so much for being such a new player. She said that the way your plot team works together as a team and how she had Just enough down time to rest, but always knew what she was going to do was really great. She had a great time and had so much fun with everyone. She sends her thanks.

And I thank you guys for taking such Good care of her. It was nice to not spend all of my time worrying she wasn't in good hands and to be able to trust you all while I played Jynx. Thank you so much.

Oh my goodness, I almost forgot my moat favorite part of the whole event!!! Chris and Chad coming in as Joseph and the dead gypsy man! Literally how they walked in the door almost made me break character. It was so funny I wanted to high give them both. Good times.
