Site Cleanup, Lost and Found

Howdy all,

Overall, the ranger was very impressed with our site clean-up. He felt we were a great example of how groups should be leaving the area.

That said, there were a few blackmarks (literally and figuratively):

  1. Sun Top Hut, primarily inhabited by Legion of the Sun: On the back porch, we found a small barbecue grill, a number of kitchen utensils and a bowl with some sort of unknown white material on it (butter, maybe?). Inside, we found a black patchwork leather satchel, and a simple boffer dagger physrep.
  2. In (I think) NPC sleep cabin, we found a green canvas backpack with peppermint tea, assorted toiletries, clothing and women's undergarments. Sorry if a guy seeing and poking through your stuff makes you feel squicky, if so, next time don't leave your stuff on site?
  3. Dark brown leather jacket with a dying cell phone, assorted keys, and a broken magkey. I'm guessing that's Dave's?
  4. In the kitchen, most of it was good except for the small grill - it was near-tar-black. For the record, here's how you clean it:
    • Scrape the most obvious stuff into the greasetrap.
    • Using the pumice stone (that big gray/black thing), grind on the metal grill top like crazy, really getting your shoulders into it. Scrape the grindy bits into the grease trap. Don't forget the corners!
    • Rinse the grill top with a cup of water with a few bottlecaps' worth of vinegar, wiping it down. At this point, it should look pretty much silver, although as the water/vinegar dries, it will look scuffed. If it doesn't look silvery, start over.
    • Take a paper towel and dab some cooking oil on it, then wipe down the grill with the oil. You should have a near-perfect silver sheen on it.
  5. In the ladies bathroom (the one nearer the tavern), we found a towel and a number of shower supplies (shampoos, conditioners, soap).
  6. Similarly, in the "secret" bathroom, we found soap and shampoo.
  7. Finally, trash was an issue. I suspect many of you helping clean site noted that we overflowed the trash bin by about twenty trash bags. I normally wouldn't complain much - three days of larping generates a lot of trash. However, the primary cause of this issue was a lack of using the recycling bins. Six people stayed behind and dug through everyone's garbage in order to pull out water bottles, soda cans, cardboard boxes from TV dinners, paper products, and the like. We were able to condense twenty bags of overflow down to two, and had we all been better about recycling, I suspect it could have been zero. Anything that can't be fit into the trash bin and the recycling bins has to be hauled in someone's car (mine, this time around) to Enumclaw and dropped off at the dump, which is a minimum $20 fee.

Again, for the most part, we were rock stars, and I don't want to diminish that. The few things left behind aren't a huge deal, just a note. The trash thing kinda ticked me off, though, between having to root through everyone's garbage and paying $20 for the privilege of hauling trash in my car.

Many thanks to Holly, Isaac, Greg, Leigh-Ann, Adam, and Cymryc for hanging back and helping do final clean-up.

#2 is most likely Amy's

Sean, I have your push pins. I meant to give them to you post-event, but got sidetracked with kitchen clean up.

no worries. toss them in with the general stuff and I will pick up another box.

Yeah, Shane and Chelsea BBQed on our porch, so I am assuming it is Shane's. As for the pouch and dagger, I will ask the boys and girls. Oh, and I accidentally left a hoola girl towel in the boys bathroom.
