Shademarch?

Adept
I find myself most confused, what's with all this about the town moving and this "Shademarch?" surely hope's reach didn't grow legs and walk off. Would anyone be willing to explain to me what happened?

Respectfully,
Deoman the Runner.

Deoman,

Hope's Reach will remain where it is, it is us that's moving. Starting next market day under request from Baroness Shademarch we'll be moving to the Valley of Solace. I'll be glad to fill you in on the details in person.

-Asher

That raised more questions than it answered. I'll try to be at next marketday to straighten this out...Just have to find our new gathering place, this should be interesting. If you hear screaming, ive probably stumbled upon a giant spiders nest somewhere in the valley on my way to the gathering.

Respectfully,
Deoman the Runner.

It is explained in this declaration by King Nerak.
Simply stated, we adventures move where we are needed most, and we are most needed in what was known as the Valley of Solace, and is now known as the Barony of Shademarch.

Squire Thorador Boulderfist

That missive doesn't mention anything about the adventurers moving to the valley of solace, unless someone has gotten other information. With all due respect to the nobility it would be strange to ask us all to move from our homes and lives to fortify ANOTHER location we helped reclaim. Hey thorador didn't you guys just buy the tavern here? I mean people are just starting to make lives in hopes reach after adventurers defended it a few years ago. I go where I'm commanded but it just seems like an odd thing to ask of the adventurers when many people here are just citizens of gaden without connections to the government or any militias.

-Sheriff York Winters, corporal of the Grey Blades

Since vhen do adventurers setyle down and make homes? By zhe nature of our status ve don't sit still very vell. No vone is being forced or even asked to leave behind zhe zhings zhey hold dear. Everyvone who is an adventurer is so by zheir own volition. If you don't vant to leave Hope's Reach, zhen don't. I vill go vhere zhe adventure takes me.

SHHH! Corrupt are listening.

-Gorka

When I say we move where we are needed most, I did not mean that that we move because of the orders of someone, but that adventurers tend to willing go where the adventure leads.

Thorador Boulderfist

The corrupt are indeed listening. Let them.

Adventurers,

You seem to be missing the full gravity of the situation. Allow me to enlighten you with some recent history before you continue your tirade of complaints about being moved.

For hundreds of years the kingdoms of Gaden and Pratorak have been fighting the corrupt and have been steadily losing ground to the corrupt in a war of attrition. Almost 110 years ago in 1403, the Anvil (located at the southernmost point in the Valley of Solace) was established as a mutual defensive point between both Gaden and Pratorak to stem the tide against the corrupt overrunning the valley. This was largely successful until after a long series of unfortunate events, the Kingdom of Gaden was weakened so that in the year of 1486, the Anvil was overrun by the surging tides of corrupt, thus separating trade and military support between Gaden and Pratorak as the entire valley was lost.

In the year of 1509, due to sustained losses, the Gaden military pulls out of the area formerly known as Fort Miller. During the same year, the first "mist walkers" come through the mists. Through the discretion of the Crown Prince Talon of the Kingdom of Gaden, these "mist walkers" are afforded the privilege to remain in the Fort Miller area. It is during this time that the area is renamed to Hope's Reach and for the first time the forward advance of the corrupt was halted due to the efforts of the local adventurers and adventurers through the mists.

In December of 1509 the local adventurers and adventurers through the mist, led by the Crown Prince Talon retook Kalmoke's Anvil, thus ground was taken from the corrupt for the first time. This was a costly victory and the corrupt that were well-established in the Valley of Solace surged against Hope's Reach. It was only through the assistance and personal sacrifice of the now Baroness Siobhoan Grey Shademarch, that Hope's Reach did not fall to the surge. Baroness Grey took many personal risks that were politically unfavorable to support the adventurers with both force of arms and resources.

In 1510 and 1511, the Valley of Solace was continually made safer by the continued assistance of the adventurers, with the destruction of nodes and eradication of corrupt, again ground is gained against the corrupt, and trade and political ties are re-established with Pratorak.

In the year 1512, the Baroness Grey has now been granted authority over the Valley of Solace and the lands formerly known as the Idden Barony, which has been combined into an area known as the Shademarch Barony. While I do not know the full rationale as to why the Baroness made her decision, however, as Baroness it is within her discretion to move us into the valley closer to the front lines.

With the re-emergence of the Greater Corrupt, it is a wise decision to move into the valley as the hive mind is now desperate. The hive mind is desperate as we have demonstrated that we have the power to hold our own against the surging tides of corrupt, that we have the power to gain ground against the corrupt, and we have the power to defeat its greatest creations. Adventurers be warned! We should not be overconfident, for a desperate enemy is a dangerous one, thus it is a wise choice to move us closer to the front lines so we can continue to strike and continue to gain ground against the corrupt.

I would also like to point out that the adventurers owe a debt and allegiance to the Baroness given her many sacrifices for us. To continue to question and complain about her decision is to discredit the sacrifices she made, and serves to taint her honor. This behavior is the reason why adventurers are looked down upon in higher circles within the Kingdom. The time has come for us to repay and reaffirm the sacrifices made on behalf of the adventurers whether or not you were a beneficiary at the time the sacrifice was made. If you choose to adventure and fight the corrupt now, it is your duty to honor and respect the sacrifices of the past.

If any of you have additional questions, feel free to send me a pidgin.

May the Light guide you and may Shadow guard your path.

a good explantation.. straight and to the point, fighting the corrupt is a long and sometimes difficult situation. but it needs to be done to ensure peace in the area. hopefully it will not take long to move the shops/forges to their new location so we can get the defenses ready for the forth-coming battles.
