The stones are still even as our hearts move.
Though Remembrance Day in Rathfall has passed, the Whispers in the Stones ceremony did not take place as planned, for I—Adherent Zakira—was not there to guide it. I was needed elsewhere. I grieve the lost opportunity to gather with all of you and speak the names that should be remembered by earth and sky alike. Perhaps we will be able to meet another time...
But the land is patient. Though the moment was delayed, the memory endures—and it will still be honored.
There is one name in particular I had prepared to speak, one that must still be honored so I make sure to tell it here.
Padishah Celestine II
He has passed from this world, of old age and long illness, just one day after his audience with Prince Consort Montague. His reign, though only four years, was marked by moments of both decisive action and surprising mercy. His unparalleled and radical mercy lifted the branding of Evil Magical Creature from the werewolves, seeing in them not monsters but people. He was just and kept us safe, sentencing necromancers of the order to die. He was great in his deeds and will be remembered.
He is survived by his granddaughter, Virtuous Knight Sadie, who now walks the path lit by his memory.
Until then, I invite you to prepare a remembrance stone for Padishah Celestine II—or any whom you have lost. It may be painted or plain, carved or simple. It need only fit in the palm of your hand and carry the name or essence of the one you wish to honor. When you feel called, place it somewhere in the forest—on moss, beneath a tree, or beside a quiet path—so the land itself may hold the memory with you. If you come across such a stone, speak the names shared.
Though we couldn't be together in person, each of us took a quiet moment to remember. One day, we'll be able to honor those memories side by side again.
