When the news of the mass exodus of Parson’s Breach reached the Conclave-Penta in Calenhelm the Sanctum’s Prime Magus, Rhialto Alata,r immediately made his way to the Arch Mage’s dwelling on top of the highest spire.
He approached the door, whispered the password to Az’Caine’s Ward and steadied himself. He grabbed the door handle and pushed. The door moved easily, even though it was made of heavy oak and banded in hard metal. As he stepped into the room he immediately was assailed with the smell of burnt metal and there was a palpable smoke tinge in the air.
Looking around the room to the Greater Circle of Power of Az’Caine’s he was taken aback by the smoldering remains of his personal Golem. “My friend what did you do?” he whispered. Knowing full well that Az’Caine only summons his Golem in times of dire need of the King or Calandonia, his fears began to take hold anew. Again, he had to steady himself and remember his duty. Moving to the Arch Mage’s desk, Rhialto rummaged through several scrolls until he came upon the ritual he required.
Grabbing the reagents from a chest beside Az’Caine’s bed he entered the Greater Circle and began casting. Once completed the Golem reformed and stood at attention, fully healed and ready for battle once again, ready to accept the Spirit of Az’Caine when the time came. Still contemplating what on Calandonia could have damaged the Golem so, he realized that the Whispering Wind ritual may be able to connect him to the Circle of Power in the Breach.
Rhialto called for a servant to fetch the Ritual from the Vault and waited. Turning back to the Golem, there appeared to be several dents from weapon blows and several areas of the Golem where scorched as if the Golem was lying face down when whatever burnt it to the point of nearly destroying it happened. “Powerful the blast must have been to leave such marks even after the healing ritual” Rhialto muttered to himself, unaware that his servant had rushed back to the doorway.
“Enter the Ward, Hiro, please”. The servant moved quickly to the Magus and handed him the Scroll. “You may leave, but stay near”. Again, Rhialto moved to the chest of Reagents and pulled the ones he required.
Entering the Circle once again he began the Ritual that would link him to the Breach and his mentor. “As both of these Circles were created by Az’Caine, the ritual should prove beneficial indeed” he mused.
The ritual completed, Rhialto sends a very simple message “M’Lord, contact me immediately and let me know your situation and the fate of the King”.
A gust of wind blows through the room and out the nearest window facing Parson’s Breach.
