I'm cosplaying as Dorothy form Big O and I must be pale o.o And for paleness I need white. I have white cream makeup. Is there some trick you can use to make it not be all uneven/blotchy?

I figured if I knew any group of people who knew makeup, there would be the most people here ^^

Gaaaaah! So if you know about cream makeup...

help =3

i can help you! white cream foundation is good, but i've found that powders are better for a more even tone. a clear talc powder used with a feather puff does magic! yes, talc is bad to inhail, but only if using a whole lot throughout your life like the old french lol. that's all i can think of! :)

talc is a kind of really soft mineral that's common. it was used more often up until the late 70's ish for mainly baby and body powders and powder makeups. its harder to find now in products, but look around in a general store and see if you can find any white talc powder, it would most likely be in the baby stuff section (make sure to read the ingredients list for other stuff that might be added that could irritate your face :p ) of course baby talc powder is the easy way to go and i dono how good it will work with other ingredients mixed in. you might also try an herb store and ask the ppl there, or if you have a mom or aunt who has old powder makeups they'd likely have some. that's all i can think of. if you still really want some check the internet or if i see you before your cosplay thing i can lend you mine. that's all i can think of :p lol.

Heh.

Go to http://www.cosplay.com if you haven't already figured out how to work around this problem... there is a section on the forums for just such questions.

Good luck with R. Dorothy. and remember to take thorazine beforehand to get the right tone to your voice :)

Yay ^^ Okie, tommarow or Monday I shall be in search of talc powder :D
I also got better applicators for the makeup today ^^
And I finished my dress! Huzzah! (aside from the frilly and cuffy bits)

I doubt I shall be seeing you before K-con though ;_; it's in a week.

Actually... do you think baby powder would work? O.O probably easier to find :P

If you're going for pale, I'd suggest Ben Nye "china white" as a good color. Try patting the cream on your face with the sponge, rather than wiping, and I think you'll find that while it takes longer to apply, the end effects will be good, especially if you dust with a clear or natural color finshing powder.

Old crotchety make-up is a very bad thing to use.

Old make-up will burn your skin and cause irritation and reddish-rash like reactions. I've seen this happen with most old make ups.

most all common baby powers..such as johnson and johnson it just plane talc with maybe some fregrance...it works decent but wont stay visable for more then a few hours tops just by itself.
but its breathable and wont clog your pores like most costume make-up.
Your best bet is to buy some light toned liquid foundation...which is real make-up...and some powder...baby power or like a powder cover up (a compaq) with thoes little round applicators inside.

The liquid keeps the powder on but still allows your skin to breathe.
And you wont have to worry about it running/smudging or being generally uncomfertable.
And you can later incoperatle it into your everyday make-up later, if you so choose, cause thats whats its suppose to be used for, that way you wont feel like you wasted your money for just one day of cool costuming.

If you have any other questions feel free to pop me a line...
