Hey, if they don't run an "official" event I'll promise to run a "private mod" that consists of you giving us goodies ;)

More seriously... July is pretty late into the summer out here. I believe our usual site is fully booked through the summer, so our season usually runs from late Sept. through early June.

-Bryan (not a staff member, don't believe anything I say, but hey figured I'd chime in)

OK So JP is officially part of the wierdo group hehe....

Jacquelyn(some SHORT! person whe people make fun of me for)

How timely. We have been discussing finding an alternate site for a summer event. Now it looks like we have a date to shoot for. We will do what we can to make this happen. We'd love to have more visitors from the East Coast.

an event in july?!?! wow, really?!? that's be so great.. no homework, or finals, or midterms to think of.. and it'll be warm? i don't know a nero such as this.. wow, if you guys do a july game, that would be wonderful!!

-Carmen

You don't know what a warm event is like? You should try a Texas summer nine-day. Not just virtual armor, but virtual makeup, and darn near virtual clothing.

A bunch of us wrote up wild elves just so we could run around in little more than loin cloths for the summer events.

If you guys have a hard time coming up with something up north, I know the Silver Falls sight where we had the last Oregon event? Tha reserves only nine months in advance, so right about now is when they're taking July reservations. Might even be able to get both buildings which would be so cool I'd kerplatz. Anyway, just tossing it out.
Hope you make it out here, had fun last time you were here and bring friends!

that's funny.. though i think a 9 day might kill me, not to mention a 9 day in the heat..

Someday I wanna go to a nine day event...who will join me?? :D

Nine days? I am *so* there. =D

9 days chews up staff members and spits them out. I know how much extra effort they go through just to extend stuff for 1 day, just think how much extra work would be involved in 7 extra days.

9 days. 9 days of plots. 9 days of NPC's. 9 days of no sleep. 9 days of having to think on my feet when players (inevitably) do something stu...er... unexpected *grin*.

It could be done. It would be expensive, require about double the plot staff and NPC's we currently have, and about a year to prepare for it. It would be very expensive to attend, but we would still likely draw from around the nation for such a long event.

Seriously, though, I don't think it will be happening any time soon.

can we say i might just die? lol it would be fun... i'm not going to argue with that one, but yes it would be TONS of work! but who knows... it may be worth it? there would have to be re-aranging of how things were done.. so you didn't get staff members falling alseep on their feet... but... hmmm... *thinks*

9 Day Events

Nine-days are heinous. In Texas, we had them the weekend prior to through the weekend following Thanksgiving. Here's how my first one went:

Friday - Loads of meeting new people. PCs: 200, NPCs: 20 No big, since the sheer number of PCs made it feel like there was lots of stuff going on.

Saturday - Double-hooking is your friend. PCs: 240, NPCs: 40

Sunday - I ache. Lots. PCs: 230, NPCs: 15 At around midnight, Plot Head and Chapter Owner come up to me and go, "Um, hey, JP.... ever consider being on Plot?" Me: "No, but, heck, I'd be interested. I have a couple of mods written up that I've been..." CO and PH: "GREAT! Here's the keys to the monster cabin, here's the password for the monster db, and, um, see ya on Wednesday!!!"

Monday - My blisters have blisters. I lick the muddy soil for lack of any moisture in my mouth. PCs: 180, NPCs: 3. I get nicknamed "The One-Man Wave Battle".

Tuesday - My tongue has blisters. PCs: 160, NPCs: 3. In monster camp, I name a Goblin mask "Norman" and leave him in charge while I run a mod for thrity PCs hell-bent on conquering "The Goblin Caves". When I return, Norman mocks me and my pain with his laughing silence.

Wednesday - No regular staff in sight. Norman has seen better days. I lose one NPC to a twisted ankle. PCs: 165, NPCs: 2 I think I ate a doughnut. Or maybe it was Norman's ear. I dunno.

Thursday - Some fresh blood arrives. Staff shows up just in time for the "Harvest Feast". PCs: 210, NPCs: 30 My stomach has shrunken to disallow me from actually eating more than a dry slice of turkey and slurp down some cranberry stuffing.

Friday - Back to PCing, sortof. PCs: 180, NPCs: 60 Some of the people who pc'ed the first weekend apparently decided to have mercy on staff. I dunno. I was in a hottub for two hours, followed by a Mongolian Grill visit, followed by three hours in a hottub.

Saturday - PCing full force. PCs: 160, NPCs: 40 A group of low levels (2nd through 8th) go on the mod to save the Elven Prince that was turned down by the intended group, people in the lvl 24-30 range. We win. Yay. No sign of Norman.

Sunday - Close of event PCs: 140, NPCs: 10 Plot thanks me for my efforts. Norman was found trampled into the mud, rest his soul. People from all of the US come up and thank me for my efforts, and with a wink and a nod, cheerily say "See ya next year!" I weep.

Its not for the faint of heart, breaking away from site is a must, and you'd best be ready for a really long sleep afterwards.
