Donation needed: gravestones

Plot could use some nicer gravestones this event. (last event they were fabulous dollar-store styrofoam "stones")

Would someone be willing to make three to five gravestones made out something that will hold up, look stone-ish but be not too heavy, and have an easy (preferably one-piece) way of standing them up in a grass field?

You can PM the Plot group on the board or email us at plot@alliance-seattle.com and we'll provide more details.

Thank you!

This donation is still needed! Thanks!

Hey, I am pretty down with painting that kind of thing. I just don't have the skills (or tools) to cut the wood/stone/plaster/harder material that you're looking for into the right shape.

Would anyone who has the ability and know-how to cut down some solid grave-stone-shaped props be interested in pairing up? Make an ugly base template, and I'll paint and decorate it?

I can make the blanks for people that want to do the paint and carving. Just let me know what you want it out of: foam or wood.

Also, for stand, would plot be open to using a 2x4 slotted base?

Sean: I'm not sure exactly what you mean by 2x4 slotted base but if it's easy to set up and you think it'll stay upright in grass, that's great. Plot would like wood, as that'll hold up better, if it can be thin enough not to be super heavy.

Thanks!

Sean, if you make blanks I will paint them, but due to location differences that might not be super timely ( you're in PDX, right?)

If someone can get it done down there, it might be more likely to be completed by the November event :-) If not though, we could get it together for the next event?

I will look at putting it together with a base stone paint work. That way they will be ready for the upcoming event. After that event, Emily can tweak it with any type face or additional stuff.

The base will be easy to set up. Basically an X with a slot that you just push the gravestone into.

That sounds great! As an idea, I know you can get "stone" spray paint that looks pretty good and would be quick to put on.

yes, I actually have some of it in the garage from a former project (yeah, free stuff).

I highly recommend doing a base coat in flat gray before doing the stone stuff. The spray stone is a little expensive and doesn't cover very well in one coat, but over an already gray background it works great without using a lot.

Yes, I will be doing a grey primer coat.

PM me if you want anything on a stone or two.
Gavin is going to help me with some of the paint work, so it will go fast and I can take some extra time to get some done.
