ANNOUNCEMENTS: Schedule Change & Site Update - Updated 8/18

I have several announcements to make.

First off, the Claremont site is cleaned up and ready to go. It was a lot of work but we completely vexed out all the crap. The cabins are cleaned and good to go. The field is clear. The mod paths are clear. The tavern will be all set. In total, there will be five available cabins for PCs to sleep in. There is also plenty of room to set up tents.

Initially, the Claremont site was going to be our event site for just September. Many of you may know that this event date kind of sucks, since we would have been conflicting with our closest neighbor in the Alliance, Caldaria. Fortunately, the Claremont site owners, Brian and Deb, have agreed to let us use their site for the October event as well. Because their site is privately owned we have more flexibly in scheduling. Therefore, we have bumped the October event date up so as not to conflict with either Caldaria or Ashbury.

Here is the new event schedule.

September Event: 9/19/09 – 9/21/08 – “An Ardent Reclaim” - Claremont, NH

October Event: 10/24/08 - 10/26/08 - Claremont, NH

November Event: 11/7/08 – 11/9/08 - Lone Tree site in Kingston, NH.

New Permanent Site!!!: Additionally, Brian and Deb have made us a generous offer. Over the last year they have been working on their property, managing some personal responsibilities and, fortunately, reacquainting themselves to the wonderful world of LARPing. Brian and Deb feel they are both ready to begin hosting a LARP on their property once again, and they have asked me if I am interested in switching the NH chapter’s permanent site to Claremont, NH. My GM and I have accepted the offer.

Reasons why this is good: Firstly, we’ll be able to run more events, possibly up to 8 events per year. Our game will be the only LARP they’ll be hosting at the site, so we won’t have to worry about conflicting dates. Therefore, we should be able to avoid conflicting with the CT game entirely. This is great for NH and CT, and all the players who enjoy both games.

Secondly, we’ll be able to keep NPC camp at the site, which will allow us to grow our props without fear of having too much to transport. This will also allow us to spend more time writing events and less time dealing with staff members at YMCA camps and what not.

Thirdly, we will be able to build on the property. With the permission of the site owners, we plan to continue building nice in period structures. Much like with the HQ site, we hope to continue developing the property, building more PC cabins and the like.

Memberships: Beginning with next year, I will be eliminating all membership costs. To be completely candid and honest with all of you, our insurance is dirt cheap, and since we will easily be able to run more events and (likely) faire days next year, I simply don’t see a reason continue charging the players after the end of this season.

The Kingston Site: For those of you who really enjoyed the fortress, we are most likely going to continue using the Kingston site about once per season, probably for our November events.

I apologize for all the date and site shifts this season, but after all, it is our first, and I trust this development with the new permanent site will be a great asset to the game and to the players.

Unrelated, but important -

Personal plot submissions: Due to general owner responsibilities and the like, I have asked Kelly Curtin to begin handling personal plot submissions along with Dan. She has accepted the position. Unless you have otherwise been asked to do so, please begin sending all personal plot submissions to Deadlandsovermind@gmail.com and kellydeadlandsplot@gmail.com. Between the two of them, you’ll be taken care of.

I believe that’s it for now. Spread the word and see you in a few weeks!

Gary

One more thing:

I would like to publically say thank you to Brian and Deb. Many of you may not know this, but they are both players as well, and their property was the old Syraandor site. It is really great of them to offer us this on a permanent basis. Let's make sure to give them our thanks when we all see them in person.

Thank you x 1000 to Brian and Deb. This is amazing news. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I've never even been there, but after hearing everything about the site, I have to admit I just bounced around like a kid. At work.

They're getting used to me, not one strange look...

YAY!!!

The tavern is really the keeper. It's like being in a real life D&D campaign. We will definately be adding to and continually improving on the site. I really enjoy building and I welcome anyone with an interest in basic carpentry and/or painting to get a hold of me directly. I will be coordinating with Brian to begin sprucing up the site ASAP.

By next season I would like to:

-Paint three of the five cabins
-Improve the current cabins
-Build a gazebo
-Build an outdoor blacksmithing forge

and in between events, early next season...

-Build one more PC cabin

i went in to work today happy and bouncing up and down saying to my boss/friend tim, aka ocean fredrick tree climber goin guess what i found out

For many years I desired a module building.

Live the dream, Gary.

Module building!

I think a mod buidling and showers could very likely be the next batch of goals. I'll have to work it out with Brian and Deb, of course. It's doable though, we just need lots of players!!!

Well, I just logged in and saw this, and I could not be happier. I was worried I wouldn't be getting to play much with the little one here, but now that the game is back in my back yard, how can I say no? =)

Thanks Brian & Deb...you guys are the best!!!

I think I left some trees un-flanked. This shall have to be rectified.

At least, I SEEM to have the time off. We'll see how that goes =)

Excellent. Bring George.

I def vote for showers and flush toilets if possible. My nose isn't hardcore and doesn't like to be around smelly barbars (and I've slept next to the furtank). PC cabins are another huge plus as the biggest comment I heard to playing the old nh was the "I'll go when I don't have to sleep in a tent with roots in my back and can shower." I gotta agree with Shane, MOD BUILDING!

This is great news for the game. Now if you could just build a direct east/west highway from Maine to the site I would be all set. The old site is a bit farther then the Boy Scout site for us Maine folk.

My only request: bathroom and a warm shower. I would be more then willing to pay a yearly membership fee for this. Back in the days I ran Nordenn it was the number one team rule, you must shower at least once every 24 hours.

What I remember best about the site was the great tavern and how all the bushes at the edge of the woods made it easy to rogue in. Hopefully I'll be able to best the x5 waylay I had there that first season.

I hear ya. There are currently five cabins and extension in the tavern, all of which PCs can sleep in, but we will certainly be adding more.

Brian was telling me that a propane shower can be added to the site. They are less expensive to install than conventional showers, and a much more efficient, apparently, so we’ll be working on that as well.

The tavern is bigger and the trees and brush at the edges have grown quite a bit. I recall your goblin waylay line, and I remember your sister was at the end of it. Taking out your sister? That's cold, Mike, real cold.
