“Kneel before the true Queen of Barran!”

The war council was cut short and made hasty by unforeseen circumstances, with the dwarven general of Na’Rab making strides to get into position while Rook and Sonya Albright led the heroes of Knoch’Len from Port Morgan through the portal near the position of Queen Na’Rab. There, behind a wall that was held by a complicated, puzzle-like magical key, forces from the Kingdom of Islan Tel’Nava tried to break through and make their way through the cavern to the circle where Na’Rab was waiting, in order to destroy it. Only four would be recognized by the circle that contained the lock, and four there were who solved it: Endo, Redcloud, Istas, and Eurig.

The remaining heroes fought back battalions of Kingdom fighters and wizards until the wall protecting Na’Rab finally fell. Inside, a female spider wylderkin named Varatesh was enclosed in a Greater Earth Circle of Power. Na’Rab, trapped within Varatesh’s body, allowed her dwarven general to come forward and sacrifice his life to separate her spirit from Varatesh and give her form. Though not all understood the significance and weight of what Na’Rab being free means, it was briefly explained to the uninitiated: with Na’Rab free, she could work to contain her sister long enough that others can perform the killing blow on them simultaneously.

The True Queen of Barran pledged to give her life that her wicked sister may die, and the immortal reign of King Zatarum’s line could finally be finished. Neither sister, and none of their soldiers imbued with their power, can cause harm to the other without harming themselves and the land. The fight was bloody to come to the point of freeing the queen, but with her safely back in her own body and with her true power, she has taken up residence in Knoch’Len to aid their war effort and help understand how to defeat the dracoliche known as Legion.

Returning to Port Morgan brought lighter challenges than freeing an ancient queen, with redcaps invading the tavern and a dryad coming to ask for favors from the assembled.

What awaited in the light of day, none could expect. Legion came to the heart of Port Morgan, seeming to know well when the rulers of the plane were occupied. There, he was set upon by adventurers immediately and when the young reindeer kin known as Noli intercepted one of his attacks, he took her away, placing a mark upon her and returning her corrupted body to the town. While the birds were away, Legion was at play, also taking three others - Mycofer, Kaleth, and Zibiah - to search for his displacer cat, “Meow”.

As if playing with his food, he appeared again later to taunt adventurers in the Crow’s Nest, appearing for only a short jaunt after taking away those who found his missing feline companion. Later in the evening, an undead minion with a note taped to its chest shambled in. Pinned to its chest was a written proclamation, signed by Meow, that Legion’s bottle would be less protected that evening.

The combined efforts of Black Forest and their proteges helped to clear a cavern full of dangerous undead. Not long after they returned to the Crow’s Nest, the raven fae Branwen came to announce that she had arranged a portal for them to gather one of the bottles containing a portion of Legion’s army and his power. When they arrived, the bottle was within two circles of power, the first of which was impenetrable until the marked Noli entered the circle. After she entered, one of the greater liches serving as Legion’s undead lieutenant manifested from her mark and activated the bottle to start disgorging undead that fought the town. Later in the fight, field surgery was performed to take a vial with necromantic magic that had been placed there by Legion, leaving Noli marked but no longer carrying Legion’s “gift” within her.

The remainder of the night was relatively quiet, with Black Forest passing Legion’s bottle into Rook’s care until such a time that it could be safely destroyed and disposed of.

On the last day of the gather, those still present cleared a cavern of spiders in Port Morgan, including an Elosdi spider that seemed to have crawled out of the forest of nightmares and found a home there. Once again, there was a circle that seemed to be placed there by Legion, with the circle dropping when Noli reached toward it after Legion’s prompting.
