Yep, 'fraid so. We actually saw the abduction from the tavern window, and were gonna come help, but we figured it was more valuable to everyone if we just wrote a cautionary tale about it instead. Just think of how many other lives the story of your capture and torment could save! It's all for the greater good, you understand. ;)
 
don't take this greater good stuff personal; he says the same thing about the effing skull on his forehead.
 
but the abduction was in the tavern.... were you sitting in the window? does the tavern even have windows?

dude, that tavern totally does have windows. Trust me, I know. Got a good cut jumping out of one a while back. Those were the days...
