Selling Skills and other build questions

i need a little clarification on "selling back" skills. For instance, if i already have Florentine as a skill and i purchase skill mastery for 10 bp as a fighter do i get anything for "selling back" my original florentine skill? Second question: If i posses gas globes of varying effects and no alchemy skill can i still use those gas globes or do i need a certain level of alchemy to throw them?

When you purchase a skill that has a skill included within it that you already possess, you pay the difference in cost between the two. So, if you're a fighter with Florentine (4 build) and you purchase Style Master (10 build) you pay 6 build, lose the skill Florentine, and spend all 10 build to buy Style Master. This is the only kind of circumstance that allows you to 'sell back' skills, other then Spirit Forge (which is hard to come by and expensive, so don't plan on it).

To use gas globes, you must possess 3 levels of Alchemy.

What about in the case of critical attack and weapon proficiency? You trade those in. Do you receive the build points back for the critical attacks (since weapon proficiency is only 3 build)?

No, you do not. The difference here is that skills like florentine and style master don't continue to ramp up. You purchase them once and that's it. With Crit attack and Weapon prof (and back attack and backstab), you must first purchase 4 of the lesser skill in order to purchase one of the greater skill.

When you do, it converts the 4 times per day of +1 damage into a permanent +1 damage.

At this point, your character card will say crit attack X 0 and weapon proficiency X 1. You can then purchase crit attacks again to ramp up to another weapon proficiency.

You see, underneath all that, you never lose the skill Crit Attack. It's always on your card. When you purchase Style master, Florentine is removed from your card. You don't need it to be there so it serves no purpose, whereas the ramp skills always have a purpose, whether you ever decide to buy more profs or not.
