Lines

When we first met, I think I was falling.
Then I looked into your eyes.
Echoes of those old voices are calling,
ringing out from troubled skies

You once told me I could fill the void,
you said you were so head over heels.
Still, I think I'm just slightly annoyed.
It would scar your heart to know how he feels.

They're just little lines
carved into your skin.
This sacred act refines
the darkness waiting within

Little marks to prove
that I'm not yet insane,
to redefine and move
your definition of pain.

Can't believe all my dreams will come true.
The demon will surface, and rise to control.
Of all the things you could ask me to do,
you ask for what will awaken his soul.

Slipping deeper, I'm losing my mind
and I'm finding it harder to feel.
Or maybe I find it harder to find
anything left within that's real.

I can see that you're looking for closure
as you're busily changing me.
But it's hard to keep my composure
in the face of such adversity.

They're just little lines
carved into your skin.
This subtle act refines
the light that's shining within.

A little taste of blood,
a drop or two at least.
Drowning in the flood,
and awakening my beast.

I love seeing those tears as they slip
so gently down your face.
I'm most assuredly losing my grip,
I'm so effing sick of this place.

I can guess that you thought I was playing.
Moon of judgement hangs high overhead.
You didn't listen to what I was saying
as we both lay in your bed.

Just a little tear
digging toward your heart.
Not like you really care
that I'm tearing you apart.

Forcing you to feel
is more pain than it seems.
A twisted bit of steel
to cut you out of my dreams.

Everybody dies.
Not all truly live.
I see behind your eyes,
you want more than I can give.

Just a little more
to see if you're the one.
I cut you to the core,
but I swear, I'm almost done.
