Zephyra
Adept
*Kai sits with her awkward stack of gear at a table by herself. Having been surprised once already, she's far from the front door with her back to the wall. In front of her is an open notebook, and she's fairly engrossed in writing something. Every few minutes she pauses to re-read what she has, making alterations here and there. It's obvious she's been chewing on the end of her quill as she thinks, for the tip of the feather is mangled and damp. Kai looks over her work again, frowns, and scribbles out long lines of text with a frustrated sign. She finally takes a break, setting her quill down.
Flanked by stuffing and buttered corn, a cooling slab of turkey sits on a plate by her left elbow. She stares at it blankly, her appetite as absent as her wayward muse. Kai pokes and prods the meat with a claw-tip, and the edge flaps wetly on a thin sheen of pale gravy. She sighs and pushes the plate further away, looking around the tavern for the first time in hours.*
