So the August event just happened. Please post your favorite interactions from either pcing or npcing. Let us know what you liked and let players and npcs know what they did or participated in that was particularly bad ***!

Oh man oh man oh man this was fun! Thank you NPCs! Thank you fellow PCs! Thank you plot, props, food, rules, and assistant GM Dave "nope, still not an elf" E! Thank you, thank you, thank you! FAVORITES!

-GUYS, MY DADDY CAME HOME! AND HE WORE A SKIRT MORE THAN I DID! Seriously, though, it was so nice having Ulthoc back- and I even liked having Tom back, too. That man's the reason I kept coming back when I first started playing three years ago and he's still doin' it.

-I HAVE A BROTHER AND HIS NAME IS HULEEN SHADOWSCALE AND HE IS RAM TRIBE! That fight was so epic and Ulthoc and Huleen were both incredible with their staff-fighting. I'm so glad to see that little bit of us-plot get tied up in a wonderful way. I'm so glad to see our weird little multicultural family growing, and I'm glad Huleen and Jovunn get to have their siblingship made official.

-Even though we didn't go on any mods or do a whole lot as one collective unit this gather, I had a great time with Nordenn. Ulthoc, Ket, Huleen, Ruis - you guys are so great. Thanks for being so fun to play with.

-Drak coming to life Jovunn literally A SECOND after her death count ended. Then having him approach her at the the end of the gather and tell her he was sorry amidst all of his joking about it and telling her she's a "good kid." Little things like that make her (and me!) feel like a valued part of the IG community.
-Also, aint' no way to start a gather quite like resurrecting. And Zatarina's excitement when I was her (as in Zat's, specifically) first rez in recent memory to NOT perm.

-BEING STUPID SEXY RACIST ATROPA! Amazing roleplay with Donna. Super-duper amazing RP with Susie and Cole, challenging them with Atropa's militant prejudice against "flesh-bag" races, but still loving them and being loved in return. Alda, specifically, was great - always holding her hand and treating her as though they'd known each other for years, despite their philosophical differences. And getting so fed up with Yuri that I pulled a total Poison Ivy - "THIS CONVERSATION WEARIES ME." *sexy tired pose*
Also, this exchange:
"How old are you, Atropa?"
"I am the first of our kind to awaken."
*Alda gapes*
and this one:
"If you need protection, stand behind me."
"How many dagger blows can you withstand?"
"Two hundred."
"OH."

-Winding up being part of the super, SUPER secret task force at the end of the mission, despite Emily's wild elf TOTALLY NOT TRUSTING ME.

-Double stupid o'clock with Huleen, Ruis... who else was there? I think Vinny and eventually Ulthoc? Being so loud that LUKA asked us to be quiet. Talking in Toad'og voice, throwing Jotun feet, talking about the rat-weenie, deciding Jovunn was going to marry Fin'drth and adopt Lochaber. BREAKING HULEEN to the point Frank had to go in and out of game.

-Pants sigil. 'Nuff said.

-TOAD'OG, TOAD'OG, TOAD'OG. Justin, you honestly were the second biggest thing making this event for me. Jovunn has never gotten involved in forest-based plot, but Toad'og was this amazing, endearing, occasionally BRILLIANT little embodiment of the forest that filled her with such awe and wonder and joy. Every time you came into town, Jovunn knew there was something just... Irrevocably GOOD around, and wanted to lay her life down for it at the drop of the hat. The idea of marrying him started as a joke, but there's a part of her that's just amazed by his total goodness and selflessness and those little flickers of well, smartness! I can't wait for him to come back as a child so I can WOO HIM!

I just have to say, I LOVE human plot. This weekend felt like a love letter to me. Thanks to all weekend writers, whether they were mentioned in closing ceremonies or not. Now on to the specifics.

Angel, JP, Willow, Scotty, and Nicole: You guys were awesome as the rotating super Galanthians. I enjoyed the creative insults as much as I enjoyed verbally sparring to out-Galanthian you. That was some of the best role play I experienced all weekend and it lasted literally from midnight Friday to Saturday 6:00PM.

My first mod (with this PC): I was terrified when the first two players said level 30 and 28. Then I was terrified when everyone else was significantly lower than me. Finally APL actually ended at almost exactly my level, so not so bad, but I now have a new appreciation for how nerve wracking the APL assignation portion of modules can be.

Archer loot: For the most part, I got very little because I was rarely near what I dropped. But twice over the weekend someone looted a corpse and then simply handed me the spoils. That was awesome. Especially awesome when I got handed arrows and told "Nice shooting, keep it up."

The great sigil debate: As far as my PC is concerned, he lost that debate, but it was still amazing to do. Special shout out to Michelle. She role played almost paralyzing indecision outstandingly.

The proposal: For the first time in my career in this game, I shocked everyone in a room to the point that no one could speak for a few moments. The lady I proposed to took almost five minutes to get her wits about her. In the end it was a beautiful marriage that was consummated by my PC getting cut to ribbons and then imprisoned (both by my wife) before it was annulled about an hour later.

Almost definitely forgetting things.

So wrong on so many levels. Find'rth is certainly not in need of a wife. And bad things usually end up happening to the ones he has had.

- Super last second decision to come play Friday & Saturday - we forgot things, but at least we had most of the important stuff (other than our BEDDING!)
- Getting to play Lia slightly more sane. She has her moments still, but she's starting to wake back up.
- Prolean (sp?) and talks of pain
- Reginald and the singing trees!!
- Hanging out with Derek & Ulthoc & Rhys in some unscaled mods
- Getting to blow everything in one last mod on Saturday & then heading home in 2ft long pigtail braids...
- Toadog and the pooping of gasses
- FREEZY POPS!
- Talking people into doing things... pitting elementals against each other...
- Discussions of nobility and the selfish acts of selflessness
- The look on Lyle's face when he recognized Lia as Aara.
- Being offered a black forest tabard - even if it was a joke, I never saw THAT coming! lol
- "Who's from Home" ala "Who's on first" - sorry Lana.. I'm a dork
- All the nasty things everyone said about the "dusted empress"
- Killing a pantherghast - yay!
- Major Asshat!
- Finding out that so many people actually had HEARD of Aara, and have no idea what to make of Lia
- Not being a disappointment

SO MUCH AWESOME. Thank you, THANK YOU for forest plot. It is really rare that I get the chance to PC, so I was really excited to play this event, and not only did it not disappoint, but it blew all of my expectations out of the water.

- EARTH MOTHER. Nothing made Ama'rali happier than to hear "I'm pleased you found me on your own, young one." Wandering by herself for hours in the forest paid off :D
- PERMANENT EARTH CIRCLE IN THE FOREST. YES. THIS ALL THE TIME YES. What better way to get people into the beautiful woods we have on site than by offering a place of sanctuary and rebirth? And my wood-sister is invested in it!!
- On that note...aimless forest wanderings. I think I've traveled over every square inch of that site now, and probably met every thorn bush intimately. I also love how I kept running into Prolon and Savaria during my random ventures, completely unintentionally. I love it when good roleplay with good people evolves so organically. Also, Prolon still holds the honor of being the only person to have surprised Rali completely while wandering in the woods. Good job, sir.
- Prolon and Savaria in general. From Circle of Power shenanigans to failing at finding a path back to town from Wild Camp, you guys really helped make this event for me. Ama'rali was SO happy to finally meet a kergani whose response to "What tribe are you from?" wasn't "I don't know," and respected Prolon's clear attachment to his cultural heritage. So. Damn. Good.
- Eluding confused goblins while being lazy ******* wild elves (and horned elf) watching the town get attacked while we laid on out backs and went stargazing from the shadows by the cabins. Having several goblins stare at us in confusion saying "Are those people? Are we stupid, are those rocks or people?" and then being literally stepped on by another goblin, who then apologized and went on his way. Most polite monsters I've ever met!
- Our second stargazing adventure that was interrupted by FAR more frightening monsters.
- Sneaking and hiding in general. I don't know why I can do this so well as Ama'rali, because Emily can't hide to save her life, but Rali got all the way into Wild Camp without Drak, Alda or Derek having any idea she was there.
- AAAAAAAAAAAAALDAAAAAA. Wood-sister, you've earned Rali's trust and respect (two VERY difficult things for any non-kin to achieve), and she hopes desperately that their differences of opinions on how to deal with outsiders doesn't hurt the bond they've established.
- Super secret forest missions! I can't wait for Jovunn and Rali to get a chance to talk, if only so that I don't have to stare at Kris warily all the time anymore, haha. Rali doesn't trust baronies with matters of the forest. I'm really looking forward to seeing the outcome of our plot writeup.

There was so much personal character growth for me this event that I was not expecting. I love that plot happened outside of the tavern, because I can't seem to keep this character out of the forest for very long. I interacted with VERY different people than I normally do, and it was really fun to play a forest-centric, mildly-racist elf with ever so slightly militant tendencies (which I just found out about myself). I love that I made enemies. I love that I could yell at people and be challenged back. This was a great roleplay event, and THANK YOU everyone who helped make it possible :)

I am sure there is more, but I'm already late for work. Haha.

Strength. Loyalty. Courage.

I foresee only good things.

Ouch Toddo lol.

We basically knew no matter what we picked it all could either be the best thing ever or blow up in our faces. Here goes nothin'!

Strength to defeat Icenia.
Loyalty to Lochaber and Morganna.
Courage to accept the change to greater undead.
:whaa:

Joking aside, there was a small part of me that really wanted to put Blood, Hubris, and Dusk in there and see exactly how vile a nation we could make.

w00t! I'll keep this short as I am still far too tired to think of absolutely everything.

THANK YOU PC'S! THANK YOU NPC'S!
- The Unlucky Galanthian. Man, you adventurers are pretty vicious even to a guy who can't walk
- Speaking of vicious... those poor rats never had a chance. SUPER BIG THANK YOU TO SUSIE! Thank you for dealing with my shenanigans and the sudden fence-hopping request!
- Plant people. It ain't easy being green.
- What? Huh? Yes? Helloooo! Byyyyye!
- Hadley Moonstream and those shenanigans. Didn't mind getting beaten on as it was fun to watch everyone be very, very, very confused.
- Goblin Dance Party!
- Monster camp is a blast.
- Watching all the wonderful debates about the future of Galanthia.
- Frank and I wandering the woods Friday Night.
- Whiskey Elemental.
- "The door looks clear...*snap*" -HOLD- "I thought it looked clear!"
- Watching Jesse fiddle with a trap for a solid several minutes only to realize that it looked incredibly complex...but wasn't at all.
- "Shun all non-human!" - "FINALLY!"
- Looking at Alda and Ruis' faces as they had to kill the Pantherghast. I've never seen someone so terrified of killing something before.

That's all I've got for now. Thanks again everyone, it was awesome fun.

Watch who you call vile. If Brittington had a symbol those would be the sigils in it.

Firstly, thank you NPCs for being so awesome new and old ones!

Now in no special order the event of awesome!

-Toad'Og from the beginning of the event to the end was awesome. I can't wait for him to show up as a PC now. Ruis is plotting Jovunn and his wedding
-Yuri why did you have to go and die the day after Ruis writes your will?! But seriously, she feels terrible that everyone keeps dying
-FRANK. You are not EVER allowed to NPC a wraith lord. You literally scared me to death jumping from the bushes and cutting Eerand down right in front of me
-Being asked by Dame Ezri to get Fae marked, Ruis was honored to actually be able to help even though she knew the consequences
-The argument of whether or not Amanranthus using bacon grease to fend off a Galanthian was a good way to use bacon
-Meeting the Mother and the dryad fight in the forest. (Kris Kitts you also need to make a dryad PC now)
-Finally getting magic items this weekend!
-Running away from Green Madness on a mod and going missing for half an hour. Little tree can't fight but she sure can run!
-Hadley Moonstream freaking showing up and finding everything out that I wanted to. Ruis will now being raging in the forest for a month
-Narcoleptic skunk-kin matched with Chaos Elementals, this has to happen again
-Epic Vansir adoption of epic
-Extra stupid 'o clock with my favorite Squire. "What other races are we missing?" "Me! Dryads!" "We can't adopt any of them because they're not scary..."
-Getting Toad'Og to Narcos and having him turn around. Narcos's face was priceless. "BOOM!" So much goo and laughter

I believe that's it but I like to say every event I come home thinking "I'm pretty sure that was my favorite event so far." and yet the next month just keeps topping it. Keep up the great work everyone and thank you so so much!

Except Atropa's stat card is REALLY scary. So maybe we'll adopt her and Jovunn will just be conspicuously absent.

Cause you know adopting the dryad in your court and your ovadaj just wouldn't make any sense :P

sorry... i didn't mean to die

This has been my first HQ event in something like three or four years; I'd say the absolute highlight for me was getting to see some familiar faces who I otherwise never get to see and getting to meet some new ones. But beyond that --

- Seeing the changes to the site since I'd last been. The little camp by the river is aces. I literally could have spent my whole event down there roleplaying and hanging out.
- The roleplay with other PCs was aces. Whether it was sitting in the tavern or sitting under the stars, I pretty much enjoyed every IC moment.
- Sevaria on Safari! It's been awhile since she's gone to another kingdom, walked up to the nobles and said "HEY, I'M NOT INVESTED IN ANYTHING, JUST TELL ME WHO TO HIT."
- Conversations with Ulthoc. It's cool to see that Sevaria and Ulthoc's titles have both changed, but they're still of similar mindsets.
- Prolon and Sevaria. Originally, I wasn't going to play Sevaria this weekend -- I was going to bring Prolon's sister, Harpia, and last minute I decided to bring Sev instead in hopes of seeing some old friends IC. In the end, these two got off a lot better than I expected to. It was a lot of fun.
- Ama'raali. It's remarkably rare that Sev meets a wild elf that she doesn't want to immediately throw into the sun. Come to Deadlands sometime. I'll show you all the terrible things.
- Everything Justin Coggins. End of story.

I'm sure there's more, but that's what comes to mind. It was good to see you folks, good to meet new people, and hopefully I'll be seeing you again soon

Oh HQ, how I've missed you! I say this because before this weekend I hadn't played a complete event since May, and it felt great to come back! As per usual, here are my favorites in no particular order!

#1. I filled in for Brian as acting General Manager this weekend, and am happy to report that I received no complaints, made no magic item, reagent/catalyst, treasure policy or ritual scroll errors (phew), and generally watched our staff kick some serious *** all weekend long! Seriously, thank you so much to everyone who contributed to making this event run so efficiently! To all staff members and the insane number of NPC's we had, well done!
#2. Jesse Grabowski. Allow me to count among the so very many who will miss you. I only had a few moments with you when I first started LARPing many, many years ago, and am so very thankful that I've had the more recent opportunities to play alongside you here at Faireplay. You are a true role-player's inspiration, and an example of someone who loves this game as passionately as it deserves. Thank you, and well wishes in all of your future endeavors!
#3. The absolutely perfect weather. Does anyone remember better since we established Faireplay? A cool wind, clear skies, a general absence of humidity? Win.
#4. Being mistaken for an elf twice, and a Dryad once. Honestly, Khorwyn has no desire to be either, despite his green and brown attire. I am beginning to wonder about the eyesight of my fellow players, though.
#5. Upon discovery of the vile substance, officially coining the term "The Green Madness." And that of course led to all kinds of ruminations among the adventures about other color-coded variants of the plague.
#6. Role-playing with Izer. We attend events together so often, but we had some very cool exchanges about so many elements of the matters at hand, large and small. War, faith, society, strawberries, etc. ;)
#7. Getting to spend the majority of my weekend with Drak. From sneaking around in the darkness to ambush Galanthians to being invited to relax in Wild Camp, Khorwyn finally feels accepted by him, even though he is just a human. :D
#8. Combat! To whomever (Brian Whitham) told me it wasn't worth it to have a Flame Aura on my longsword, I say "FAIL!" It worked on Plant Creatures, Infected Dryads, Undead, Trolls....yeah, you get the point.
#9. Justin Coggin, and the role-playing sensation that was Toad'og! Adorable. Gaseous. Hysterical. Tragic. Honorable. Hail the glorious, humorous dead!
#10. Sleep! Strangely enough, I slept better at the event than I slept for the two weeks before it. Don't ask me how, but I'm betting at least one night was assisted by the Benadryl Scott gave me for the massive bug bites on my left leg ehrmegerrrrrrrrd!!!!!
#11. Picking on Ket all weekend long. Seriously, that spry little elf needs to stop leaving his (super cool) bow lying around, or at least learn how to wield a sword for those times when he does. ;)
#12. Dinner with the Kondrks and Mike "The Nicest Guy in the Galaxy" Luther. With no offense meant to Bill's dinners, I enjoy stepping away from the game on Saturday nights to just decompress and relax before coming back. A hearty meal, followed by forbidden ice cream, followed by my useless attempt to warm Scott up to Faunt's "M4 Part II," and we were all ready for a serious amount of, well, napping.
#13. Getting to design the combat tactics of the final battle, when Narcos returned and we couldn't harm him. It felt like Khorwyn had a serious responsibility, and a little respect. :tears:
#14. Getting to "weigh in" on the decision of which sigils would be placed into the "holy crap super important whoa don't touch that yikes" stone of Galantri. Here's to all of that turning out well! :grrr:
#15. THE END! No really, everyone did an amazing job of getting packed and cleaned up for this event. I left 45 minutes earlier than usual! Please accept my heartfelt thanks for doing your part to to lessen the load of others.

Cheers, Everyone, and I'll look forward to seeing all of you (I hope) at the National Event at Faireplay! :ninja:

Must say the highlight of the weekend for me was when Ezri walked up to me and asked me: "Vox, would you be willing to put this fey sigil on you in order to provide an unbiased perspective on this sigil business?" I pretty much would have said yes to almost anything. In all my years LARPing, my character has never been approached by a veteran player's character for anything other than: 'sorry, bro. you broke the law and now you're getting ganked'. It was super cool to be asked to do something of any importance. (it's the little things ;) )

As far as RP goes, spending a large amount of time studying law with Izer, tormenting the other Stone Elf, cracking high-end puns and not understanding them due to my business-only personality was awesome!

I had a sick time this weekend!

Weird. Hair. :-P

Now that I'm mostly recovered from the weekend, I can finally put something coherent here.

Thank you, everyone, for humoring my silly plots and even being engaged in them. It was absolutely incredible to provide something new and different on my first cowritten weekend, and I can't describe how good it feels to have so many people and friends giving me glowing feedback for it. I'm pretty sure the plans for the weekend went out the window by Saturday afternoon, and being able to create something completely organic in the midst of awesome roleplay was incredibly special.

Everyone in NPC camp was awesome, enthusiastic, and constantly willing to help and to throw themselves at PCs. I commend you guys so hard.

Really all I keep saying is how wonderful the roleplay was this weekend. It was fascinating, immersive, and wicked fun, so thanks everyone who hung out with me in the new circle.

And, of course, Toad'og gets to be a real boy soon.
