Wylderkin Racial Dodge or Racial Slay?

Axle

Newbie
Going to be a wylderkin fighter and I'm going to get a racial proficiency as one of my skills.
I'm on the fence as to whether to have 1 get out of trouble free card with racial dodge or up my burst damage potential with a racial slay.

Also, am I wrong in my assessment that Wylderkin are most optimal as fighters? Seems like the 2x read ability negative gimps their ability to become casters or alchemists. Let me know your opinions.

Dodge. Dodgy dodge dodge all the way.

If you're going fighter, you'll get access to slays normally. But it'll be expensive to impossible to get that dodge as a pure fighter. And dodges are really good.

Dodge. There's absolutely no comparison to a Universal Cloak ability versus a Slay.

Re: Optimal: That's true, but only in the most technical sense. You'll feel that extra build cost much more heavily at 2nd level than you will at 10th, and at 20th+ you barely notice.

I will third Dodge. I play a Hobling, not a kyn, but it's a rare event that I don't end up using that dodge for something that really would have sucked.

Chiming in on the dodge-train to Fighter-town.

Bar-none, the best racial there is, as well. Slays are easy and cheap for fighters. Dodges ... "slightly" less so.

Play the kin you want to play. Expensive build buys be damned. It’s a role play game, not min/max stat crunching.

I understand where you're coming from, but there's more than one way to play Alliance, and please don't discourage people from building their character with a power-build approach if that's the experience they're looking for.

I hear you role play is king for sure, but as a lifelong gamer and rpg player the optimization part of building a character is pretty fun for me too.

If you have no strong RP feelings toward either, definitely go dodge. The only reason to go slay is if you're building a super specialist slay based character. Otherwise that dodge is going to save your bacon and is much harder to get.
