Layering leather to add thickness

Does anyone know if laminating several pieces of thinner leather together to get the 10oz weight for level 2 armor would be permissible? The resulting material would likely not be as stiff as leather that started out that weight (I'll be working with upholstery leather for more flex.)

Varies by your marshals locally. Generally, I've found that layering leather (usually seamed or riveted layers when I do it) tends to gain the thicker bonus in most locales.
